Are you sure that you've waited the requisite amount of time? Maybe Shadowmere decided that if you're off riding other horses, she's better off without you. She's a strong, independent filly and she doesn't need to put up with you any more.

I thought I remembered that I picked up the new horse at fort green wall, so I waited there. No luck. The only choices are: Shadowmere died. Wait for a few days and go back to the place he died the retrieve him. Go to console and type the following: prid CCD81 moveto player Shadowmere should teleport back to you. This worked for me, and it works for others so this answer might suit you.

Does she die more easily when you're difficulty is novice? Now I have no Shadowmere. Do you think she'll respawn? I've lost Shadowmere twice now, I think it has something to do with the Soul Cairn in my case because both times I couldn't find him upon exiting the Soul Cairn.
He died, but he's supposed to respawn. I marked where he died on my map but his corpse was gone after the respawning time required. He didn't go to any stables or his pond, I'm pissed now. We don't like Shadowmere. He follows everywhere the Dragonborn fast-travels to and immediately attacks any enemy in sight, which ruins using stealth. We greatly prefer Arvak. What we wish we knew is how to reliably get rid of Shadowmere, so if anyone knows something that has lost him on multiple play-throughs, please tell us.
Quote: Weird thing happened today. If you interact with other horse while using Shadowmere he is "deactivated" and goes back to his pond. He can disappear for good on some occasions as well. I have done this several times and it works well: when I get Shadowmere, I leave her to the "black pond" immediately as said, she basicly destroys any attempts playing stealth and mount Arvak. I think the respawn rate has to do with in game time rather then levels achieved.
Sue J New Member. As a family we have lost Shadowmere more than once. In one game I lost shadowmere at about level 48 ish. I spent about 10 hours here and there looking for shadowmere. I went to stables, sanctuary, last place seen etc.
I find Shadowmere fighting 3 frost trolls near Sarthal - I had lost Shadowmere near Snow veil sanctum. My daughter also lost and found Shadowmere but in a two week interval on Xbox, again. Shadowmere was in a fight when found - this time with some bears. Although I have never read of confirmed this, I suspect this is one of the things that starts Shadowmere disapearing. Shadowmere sees something that it thinks must die and pursues it. I have chased Shadowmere halfway across the map of skyrim when she got it in for a deer one day.
The only thing I can say for this is that both times we heard feint distant fighting and went to investigate. Did you go back and check outside the Sanctuary?
Like x 1. Dagmar Defender of the Bunnies of Skyrim. If Shadowmere stops showing up with you whenever you fast travel after you "lose" him, it's possible that he died. When Shadowmere dies he respawns where he died 10 days later and he won't move from there. The normal rules for respawning apply so entering the area where he died within the 10 days will reset the respawning period.
If you have no idea where that might be there's not a lot you can do on the game console versions of the game. The best you can do is hangout in a city for 10 days and then hope you run into him wherever he died as you play the game. Agree x 1 Informative x 1.
Numinex 91 Member. You didn't happen to mount another horse, summon and mount Arvak or when you lost Shadowmere, were you close to some steep incline or cliff? It's possible he could've fell and died. Same thing happened to me outside the Abandoned Prison. Did you have Detect Life with you when travelling the map?
